Jutaan Tanaman Penghijauan Terancam Mati

YOGYAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Memasuki musim kemarau, jutaan bibit pohon di lereng Gunung Merapi terancam mengering. Jika tak segera ditangani, bantuan donatur bernilai miliaran rupiah tersebut akan mati sia-sia.


Koordinator lapangan Konsorsium Penghijauan Area Lereng Merapi (PALM) Kari Tri Adji mengemukakan, sekitar 75 persen bibit pohon yang ditanam di lereng Merapi masih bertahan hidup dan sekitar 25 persen lainnya mati. Namun demikian, apabila dalam sepekan ke depan tak ada hujan, maka tanaman-tanaman tersebut juga akan mati.


"Banyak donatur yang berpikir sederhana bahwa penghijauan di lereng Merapi akan selesai hanya dengan menyumbang sejumlah bibit pohon. Padahal, di balik itu masih banyak hal lain yang harus diperhatikan, seperti penyiraman tanaman, pemupukan, hingga pemeliharaan," papar Kari, Selasa (7/6/2011) di Pondok Pesantren Al Qodir, Cangkringan, Kabupaten Sleman, DI Yogyakarta.

Menurut Kari, hingga saat ini masih banyak lembaga yang menawarkan sumbangan bibit pohon. Namun, agar tanaman-tanaman tersebut tak mati sia-sia, maka untuk sementara penanaman bibit pohon di lereng Merapi dihentikan hingga musim hujan tiba. "Sekarang, yang sangat dibutuhkan adalah gerakan penyiraman bibit-bibit pohon. Kalau ada donatur yang akan memberikan bantuan, sebaiknya mereka fokus pada masalah ini," katanya.


Agar bibit-bibit pohon di lereng Merapi tak mati, dalam dua minggu ke depan PALM melakukan penyiraman rutin menggunakan mobil tanki. Selama penyiraman berlangsung, PALM akan membuat 100 bak air darurat masing-masing berukuran 4 x 6 meter yang menggunakan landasan terpal. Bak tersebut berfungsi sebagai tempat penampungan air yang akan digunakan warga untuk menyiram tanaman.


"Kami juga sedang mengumpulkan ribuan botol air mineral berukuran 600 mililiter dan botol-botol infus untuk menyiram tanaman secara perlahan-lahan dengan sistem infus. Rumah Sakit Panti Rapih dan Panti Nugroho sudah bersedia menyumbang botol-botol infus untuk menampung tandon air di setiap tanaman," tutur Kari.


Camat Cangkringan Samsul Bakri mengungkapkan, saat ini banyak bibit-bibit pohon di sekitar Desa Glagaharjo dan Kepuharjo, mati dan mengering. Tanaman-tanaman tersebut mati karena hanya ditanam di permukaan pasir sehingga mudah mengering dan tersapu air jika hujan tiba.


Koordinator Forum Silaturahmi Alim Ulama dan Tokoh Masyarakat Lintas Iman Kawasan Merapi (Salaman Merapi) KH Masrur Ahmad MZ menambahkan, sumbangan jutaan bibit pohon yang ditanam di lereng Merapi bernilai miliaran rupiah. Karena itu, jika tak dipelihara, maka tanaman-tanaman tersebut akan mati sia-sia.


"Agar penghijauan lereng Merapi benar-benar terlaksana, bantuan sebaiknya tidak lagi dalam bentuk bibit tanaman tetapi berupa pemeliharaan tanaman," ujarnya.
