Tanggal 2 Juli 2011, RSA UGM Gelar Operasi Katarak Gratis

YOGYA (KRjogja.com) - Rumah Sakit Akademik (RSA) UGM di Kronggahan, Trihanggo, Gamping menggelar program pengabdian masyarakat. Salah satunya, operasi katarak gratis bagi 30 penderita pada tanggal 2 Juli mendatang.


Ketua panitia program pengabdian masyarakat RSA UGM, dr Siswanto mengungkapkan, dipilihnya operasi katarak ini karena biaya yang sering tidak terjangkau oleh penderita. "Biaya operasinya itu mahal, sesuai dengan stadium dan metodenya," ungkapnya dalam jumpa pers di RSA UGM, Gamping, Senin (27/6).


Selain itu, jumlah penderita katarak di Indonesia juga tergolong tinggi. Padahal, penyakit ini sangat rentan mengakibatkan kebutaan. "Saat hari pertama pendaftaran kemarin, pendaftarnya sangat banyak. Namun, kami batasi untuk 30 penderita dulu," imbuh Siswanto.

Penyebab utama penyakit katarak, lanjut Siswanto, dikarenakan diabetes. Namun, kelainan metabolik pada mata serta faktor usia juga menjadi penyebab. "Katarak itu kan penyakit kekeruhan dalam lensa mata. Jadi, yang terkena penyakit ini pandangannya menjadi kabur," imbuhnya.


Sementara itu, dokter spesialis anak FK UGM, Prif dr Sunartini, SpA.(K) menambahkan, bayi yang baru lahir pun juga bisa langsung terserang katarak. Khususnya, bagi ibu hamil yang terserang Rubela atau Campak German.


"Rubela itu sebenarnya tidak berbahaya bagi bapak atau ibu hamil. Namun, sangat berbahaya bagi anak yang dikandung. Sehingga, saat lahir kelak, pasti mengalami katarak. Kasus ini sudah saya temui di Gunung Kidul," terangnya.


Oleh karena itu, kini pihaknya tengah gencar agar vaksinasi Rubela bisa diberikan secara gratis. Sejauh ini, baru vaksin campak biasa yang digratiskan. "Kesadaran warga DIY untuk imunitas terhadap campak itu sangat tinggi, bahkan mendapat penghargaan WHO. Namun, khusus untuk Rubela atau Campak German, vaksinnya belum bisa gratis," aku Sunartini.
