Bisnis "Game" dan Animasi Yogyakarta Mulai Bergairah

YOGYAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Industri kreatif game dan animasi di Yogyakarta mulai menggeliat. Hal ini ditandai dengan munculnya komunitas-komunitas game dan animasi serta masuknya perusahaan game internasional di Yogyakarta.

"Di Yogyakarta sudah tumbuh sekitar 20 komunitas game dan animasi, yang tergabung dalam Jogja Animations Gallery (JAG). Komunitas-komunitas yang setiap bulan berkumpul ini juga memiliki studio-studio animasi sendiri-sendiri," kata Direktur Politeknik Seni Yogyakarta M Lazim, Rabu (7/9/2011) di Yogyakarta.

Selain tumbuhnya komunitas-komunitas game dan animasi, sebuah perusahaan game berskala internasional yang berpusat di Perancis, Gameloft, juga telah mendirikan anak cabang, yaitu PT Gameloft Indonesia, di Yogyakarta sejak tahun 2010.

"Ketersediaan sumber daya manusia di Yogyakarta yang kompeten dalam bidang game dan animasi tentu saja menjadi alasan masuknya perusahaan-perusahaan game dan animasi ke Yogyakarta. Bahkan, sekarang juga banyak muncul pelaku industri kreatif game dan animasi lokal di sini," ujar Lazim.

Menurut Lazim, prospek industri kreatif game dan animasi sangat menjanjikan. Terbukti, industri kreatif ini telah memberikan kontribusi produk domestik bruto (PDB) secara nasional sebesar 7 persen. Karena itu, perlu disiapkan sumber daya manusia profesional agar pasar dalam negeri bangkit dan berkembang.

Didominasi luar negeri

"Saat ini lebih dari 50 persen pasar game dan animasi dalam negeri masih didominasi produk luar negeri. Jika pelaku industri kreatif tidak mengantisipasi hal ini, mereka akan kehilangan peluang," kata Lazim.

Meskipun komunitas dan penggemar game serta animasi mulai berkembang, masih sedikit sekolah ataupun perguruan tinggi yang menyediakan program keahlian ataupun program studi seperti ini.

Di Yogyakarta, misalnya, hanya terdapat dua sekolah menengah kejuruan (SMK), yaitu SMK 5 dan SMK 3, yang menyediakan program keahlian animasi. Sementara itu, di tingkat perguruan tinggi, tak lebih dari lima perguruan tinggi yang mengambil program studi atau mata kuliah game ataupun animasi.
