VIVAnews - Gelombang pasang yang berlangsung hampir satu pekan di kawasan Pantai Selatan Yogyakarta khususnya pantai Kuwaru, Kabupaten Bantul mengakibatkan ratusan pohon cemara udang di tepi pantai tumbang, kolam permainan anak hancur, posko SAR mengalami kerusakan parah dan lapak-lapak pedagang porak-poranda.

”Gelombang pasang yang terjadi sejak hari Jumat minggu lalu hingga hari ini telah merusak tanaman, bangunan bahkan aspal jalan di bibir pantai Kuwaru,” kata Gambos, 34, salah seorang warga di Pantai Kuwaru, Kabupaten Bantul, DIY, Rabu 19 Oktober 2011.

Gambos mengatakan terjangan gelombang pasang merusak pemandangan pantai. Kawasan yang dulu teduh, kini panas akibat tidak ada lagi pepohonan yang menaungi. Ditambah lagi, pohon yang tumbang belum dibersihkan. Begitu pula dengan sampah yang menumpuk hingga 50 meter dari bibir pantai.

Lebih lanjut Gambos mengatakan gelombang pasang sendiri terjadi saat malam hari sehingga warga maupun pemilik lapak-lapak tidak bisa berbuat banyak. ”Para pedagang belum sempat menyelamatkan dagangan yang disimpan di lapak,” jelasnya.

Para wisatawan yang datang ke Pantai Kuwaru kata Gambos juga kaget melihat kondisi pantai Kuwaru yang hancur setelah dihantam gelombang pasang selama beberapa hari terakhir ini. ”Meski kondisinya mengenaskan, namun wisatawan masih banyak yang berdatangan ke Pantai Kuwaru,” kata Gambos lagi.

Poniman, warga lain di Pantai Kuwaru menyatakan gelombang pasang ini disebabkan oleh faktor alam yang sering melanda di kawasan Pantai Selatan Yogyakarta ini.

”Saat ini gelombang pasang tidak saja terjadi di Pantai Kuwaru, namun hampir semua pantai selatan Yogyakarta dilanda gelombang pasang,”katanya

Poniman yang berprofesi sebagai nelayan sejak gelombang pasang dan angin kencang bertiup minggu lalu, dia dan nelayan lainnya tidak berani melaut. ”Nelayan tidak mungkin melaut karena gelombang diatas 4 meter.
