Liputan6.com, Yogyakarta: Jumlah penganggur terbuka di Indonesia hingga kini mencapai 8,32 juta orang atau 7,14 persen dari total 116,53 juta orang angkatan kerja di Indonesia. Demikian diungkapkan Menteri Tenaga Kerja dan Transmigrasi Muhaimin Iskandar saat menghadiri upacara wisuda lulusan program doktor, magister, sarjana, dan diploma periode IV Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) di Yogyakarta, Sabtu (23/4).


"Kondisi itu secara langsung maupun tidak langsung dipengaruhi jumlah penduduk yang cukup besar, terbatasnya peluang kesempatan kerja di sektor formal dan potensi sumber daya alam yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Besarnya jumlah penganggur dan penduduk miskin tentu menjadi beban bangsa yang harus dicarikan solusinya," kata Muhaimin.

Menurut pria yang akrab disapa Cah Imin ini, program Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu II, bertekad untuk menurunkan angka pengangguran menjadi 5,1 persen pada 2014. "Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk menciptakan kesempatan kerja sekaligus mengentaskan warga miskin adalah melalui pengembangan kewirausahaan," katanya.


Selain itu, menurut Cah Imin, mahasiswa juga harus menempa diri untuk menjadi wirausahawan mandiri agar ketika lulus tidak mencari pekerjaan, tapi mampu menciptakan lapangan kerja bagi diri sendiri dan orang lain. "Program pendidikan juga harus terkait dan cocok dengan dunia usaha dan pasar kerja agar mampu menghasilkan tenaga kerja yang kompeten dan siap bekerja," imbuhnya.(CHR/ANS/Ant)
