Jengkel Diganggu Wereng, Tanaman Padi Dibakar

Serangan hama wereng ini membuat para petani kelimpungan. Hamparan tanaman padi yang belum genap berusia sebulan sebagian tampak mengering dan mati. Kalaupun masih ada yang hidup, padi-padi ini mulai menguning. Menurut para petani, jika dibiarkan, padi ini pun akan mati tak lebih dari seminggu.


Sebagian petani pun memilih untuk membabat padi yang masih hijau untuk pakan ternak. Hama wereng desa ini tidak hanya menyerang tanaman usia muda. Padi yang mulai berbuah pun tak luput dari hama. Padi yang sebagian tak berisi ini pun dipanen lebih dini untuk mengurangi kerugian.



Menurut petani, serangan wereng ini mengganas sejak mereka beralih bibit ke padi jenis impera dan cibagendit atas anjuran Balai Pertanian yang menggandeng produsen pupuk.


Wabah hama wereng ini bukannya tidak dilaporkan ke pihak terkait. Namun, Dina Pertanian sebatas menganjurkan agar petani membabat seluruh tanaman padi atau membakarnya. Dinas Pertanian juga meminta para petani sementara beralih ke tanaman palawija dan dijanjikan benih kedelai untuk memutus mata rantai hama wereng. (YUS)
