UGM-Kemenristek Kolaborasi Kembangkan Energi Listrik dari Angin

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA - Universitas Gadjah Mada-Kementerian Negara Riset dan Teknologi tengah mengembangkan energi listrik hibrid dengan memanfaatkan potensi tenaga angin dan panas matahari di Pantai Pandansimo, Kabupaten Bantul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.

"Pemanfaatan teknologi itu untuk mewujudkan penggunaan sumber energi baru dan terbarukan. Angin laut dan darat di pantai tersebut memiliki kecepatan rata-rata 3-4 meter/detik dan intensitas sinar matahari yang besar dan tetap," kata anggota tim peneliti Rahmawan Budiarto di Yogyakarta, Kamis (22/9).

Menurut dia, kekuatan kecepatan angin di Pantai Pandansimo termasuk rendah, sehingga dikombinasikan dengan energi sel surya. Kombinasi tenaga angin dan matahari itu menghasilkan energi listrik sebesar 130 kilowatt (kw) per hari.

"Energi sebesar itu dihasilkan dari 35 turbin angin dengan tinggi rata-rata 18 meter, terdiri atas 26 turbin angin dengan kapasitas satu kw, enam turbin angin 2,5 kw, dua turbin angin 10 kw, dan satu turbin angin 50 kw, yang didukung 175 unit sel surya dengan kapasitas 17,5 kwp," katanya.

Ia mengatakan, instalasi turbin dan sel surya yang sudah terpasang akhir tahun lalu tersebut telah dimanfaatkan masyarakat yang tinggal di sekitar pantai. Energi listrik yang dihasilkan sebesar 130 kw itu digunakan untuk menghidupkan mesin produksi es balok yang sering dimanfaatkan para nelayan.

"Pemanfaatan energi listrik hibrid itu saat ini sepenuhnya untuk membantu pengembangan ekonomi masyarakat nelayan dan petani sekitar," kata dosen Fakultas Teknik UGM itu.

Menurut dia, pihaknya kini juga seang meneliti dan mengembangkan bengkel produksi turbin kincir angin yang sesuai dengan kondisi kekuatan angin di lokasi berbagai daerah. Ke depan diharapkan semuanya bisa dibuat oleh masyarakat lokal.

Meskipun pemanfaatan teknologi kincir angin dan tenaga matahari di Pandansimo masih sebatas proyek percontohan, pemanfaatan teknologi itu sebagai upaya pemerintah untuk memenuhi kebutuhan energi yang bersumber dari energi baru dan terbarukan.

"Teknologi itu mendukung aktivitas semangat konservasi lingkungan dan produksi teknologi untuk pengelolaan energi berbasis sumber daya lokal," katanya.
