KULON PROGO--MICOM: Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Kulon Progo, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), mengimbau kepada masyarakat untuk mewaspadai penyakit leptospirosis saat musim hujan.

"Selain itu, kami menyebarkan surat edaran terkait imbauan kepada 21 puskesmas di seluruh kecamatan di Kabupaten Kulon Progo untuk siap siaga menghadapi musim hujan. Kami meminta setiap puskesmas agar meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan terhadap penyakit menular di masyarakat khususnya leptospirosis," kata Kepala Dinas Kesehatan (Dinkes) Kulon Progo Lestaryono di Wates, Selasa (8/11).

Ia mengatakan, langkah itu dilakukan untuk menghindari penyebaran kasus penyakit yang disebabkan oleh air kencing tikus tersebut agar tidak menjadi kejadian luar biasa (KLB) seperti pada musim hujan sebelumnya. Pada musim hujan sebelumnya, Pemkab Kulon Progo menetapkan KLB leptospirosis dengan jumlah 271 kasus , 20 orang di antaranya meninggal dunia dalam kurun waktu Januari hingga Juni 2011.

"Harapan kami, kejadian KLB leptospirosis tidak terjadi lagi pada musim hujan ini maupun tahun-tahun berikutnya," kata Lestaryono.
